__Concept__:

In a single-phase fully controlled bridge rectifier, the average output voltage is given by

\({V_0} = \frac{{2{V_m}}}{\pi }\cos \alpha \)

Where,

Vm is the maximum source voltage

α is the delay angle or firing angle

__Calculation__:

Given that,

average output voltage (V_{o}) = 180 V

output current (I_{o}) = 10 A

supply voltage (V_{s}) = 230 V

In a single phase full controlled converter,

\({V_o} = \frac{{2{V_m}}}{\pi }\cos \alpha\)

\(\Rightarrow 180 = \frac{{2 \times 230 \times \sqrt 2 }}{\pi }\cos \alpha \)

⇒ cos α = 0.869
